What makes these jam jars, (or pot de confiture in French) rare? The size. These are individual jam jars used at breakfast time... and to really put a spin on this... not just breakfast in any ole' home but rather a Chateau like place (or hotel). These little jam jars are from around 1880 or earlier, I have never seen them before in this size.... well actually once before.SOLD
This small hand painted wooden tray is most likely what they call in France a "Poche Vide" something to hold the contains when you empty your pockets.
Or it might be for a vanity to hold special perfumes and oils.
Though I think I would use it to serve two glasses of champagne with two chocolate covered strawberries.
