Tongue in Cheek turns Two

                            Coreyamarodogone_3

I know you have seen this dog on the paperdoll's head before, and you will see it again...

Today Tongue in Cheek is Two!

Thank you for following my blog.

Thank You

                          Teatime

Thank you for reading my blog,  for your comments and for your friendship.  I am sorry I cannot respond to each of you as faithfully as you do with me.  I was taught to say thank you after receiving a gift,  I feel guilty that I haven't been able to keep up,  to give to you what you freely give to me: your constant support and encouragement.

Thank you for coming back again and again.

The amazing thing is I feel I know you. Who would have guessed that the Internet could take on a spiritual realm? Could create communities, could be a listening ear, could encourage others to be who they and feel good about it? Thank you for showing me this truth.

Thank you for being you and being here.

Corey

Thank You

Questions

Img_4569

This is a post to answer a few questions I have been asked:

1)  Yes, Chelsea started university (called Class Preparatory) in Aix.  She is living in a studio and seems to be as happy as a lark. It is not too far away. No she is not joining the circus.

2)  French Husband passed his flying test. Though there is a period of time where he must fly alone before he can take passengers.  I will fly with him, and of course take photos.  He has yet to pick a name for his plane. But when he does I'll let you know.

4)  My favorite antique market is a professional one in Avignon. My favorite flea market is Vanves in Paris.  To find out about the antique markets in France check here.

5)  Thanks for asking me to be your guide in France.... though LE TRIP is the one to ask.

6)  A beautiful place to stay in the south of France La Madrone. I could live there for the rest of my life. It is a dream.

7)  My Father is as good as he can be in a not so good situation (he has a rare form of bone marrow cancer.) His morale is positive, his spirit strong. He is one tough old man with a heart of gold! Thank you for thinking of him.

8) I have a new camera Canon EOS 30 D . Though most of the photos on this blog have been taken with my Canon Power shot S2IS.

9)  French husband does not have a brother.

10)  I post everyday because I enjoy it. A book who knows.

*3)  Thanks  Star for reminding me that I didn't put a three. To answer yet another question I am dyslexic and forgetful.

Good Morning

Hug randomly.

Stand by the ones you love.

Hide beneath a rose.

Share a smile by stretching it ten miles or more.

Today is everything.

The Party at Lauren's

A gathering, like twigs in a nest, one by one, we arrived at Lauren's home for a party amongst blogging friends.

I love parties where a bunch of friends come over, eat cakes, laugh and dance on tabletops. Where those gathered talk out of turn, sparkle and spark, and feel they have known each other for a life time. Where the shy ones smile, the loud ones sing out tune and the time passes in a blink of an eye.

I love a party where everyone fits in by being themselves.

Lauren's home is a feast for the eyes, creativity and imagination greet you at the door, and never let you go.

Added to that pleasure, she invited six ultra talented women (Mary, Ulla, Donna, Lea, Sharon, and Nicol,) who's art is sought after, praised, published, and made me feel giddy with happy shivery-goosebumps. I wanted to grab their hands, race home take some paper, a scissor, some glue, and start creating art with them.

Eating Pie

Little_shoes

Today after 19 months of blogging every single day I drew a blank.

I looked at the empty screen and it looked back at me.

...blank.

Maybe because there is a ton of laundry and an empty frig starring at me... begging me for attention.

I am easily distracted.

Have you ever been in a pie eating contest? I have and I won. Mainly because I put my face into the pie and rubbed it all around, half the pie was on my face. Actually, I won because I had a chocolate cream pie and who can eat a pie like that slowly?

French Cafe and the Internet Cafe, all in one day.

Yesterday, I went to Aix en Provence to meet an American friend. We had lunch at one of those sidewalk cafes. Hours passed by as we shared stories about living in France. It is wonderful to have a friend who speak the same language, and who laughs at my jokes.

At the end of the day we gave our double kisses and said good bye. I was in my own happy world as I walked back to my car. At the crosswalk, an American couple asked me if I could help them with their parking meter ticket. I explained to them how it worked, afterward I asked them where they were from.

"Arkansas," they said, "and you?"

"I am originally from California, though I have been living in France these last twenty years." As I said this I saw them exchange glances.

The woman asked, "Do you write a blog?"

I said yes. She then poked her husband saying, "I told you it was her."

We chatted at the crosswalk, like old friends who haven't seen each other in years.

They asked me if there were any good fairs this weekend in the south of France...I told them I would list them on my blog. So Jenny and Rob, here is the list of fairs this weekend in the South of France, and by the way do you want to come to my home for dinner tonight?

The Interview

            Illustration_of_oh_la_la
(Photo: A detail on a vintage 1920s illustration.)
Blue has asked me to share in an interview.
1. Corey, you live in France. You have a French husband. If you hadn’t ended up there, with him, where would you be today?
Probably, standing in line somewhere in San Francisco talking to myself. Dreaming about living abroad. Wishing on stars. Eating burritos, and thinking up new ways to cheat at cards.
Teasing aside, I have no idea. I have never been a goal oriented person, nor someone who thinks about the, "what if..." I make most of my decisions "spur of the moment," and seldom look back.
                Thefaceoftruth_2
(Photo: Antique sculpted face, carved above the window of my neighbor's facade.)
2. What is your one daily ritual for inner peace that you HAVE to do…will you share?
As a young  girl I kept a journal and dreamed of being a priest. I started to go to daily mass. Then I lived in a monastery. Which lead me to work for the Catholic church. When I came to France I belonged to a spiritual dancing/yoga/Tai Chi/energy healing/meditation
group. After which I started a blog.
Inner peace is easy to obtain when we are healthy, happy, at peace with ourselves and surrounding. I admire those who have inner peace in the middle of a personal battle. Inner peace in the face of darkness takes a hell of alot faith and courage. I hope if ever I am pushed against that sort of wall that I can claim I have inner peace.
                Handprint
(Photo: My hand print, when I was a child, at the bottom of the front steps, of my childhood home.)
3. Your dad just turned 80, and must have a lot of life wisdom under his belt. What are 3 distinct qualities you share with him?
Spontaneity.
A kind-heart,
and an appreciation for red wine.
               Potdecream
(Photo: A collection of two hundred year old things. Found at the French antique market. White iron-stone "pot de creme" cups on a serving tray, a book of hand-written music, an hand-woven linen sheet, and an hour glass.)
4. Do you listen to music? If so, what do you listen to.
Blue, This reminds me of the question on "American Bandstand." My answer echos their's, if it has a good beat and I can dance to it, any music will do, any period of time, style or place. I am not a music buff. I seldom hear the words in music. I like it all...except heavy metal, or the sound of bickering, or fingernails on a blackboard.
                Rosesroses
(Photo: Old fashion roses.)
5. One thing you would change about the world.
That each person felt loved.
Thank you Blue for the interview.
