Vegetable Soup
Vegetable soup:
One onion, two turnips, a bunch of carrots, two leeks, a few collard leaves, one potato, the heart of the celery, two cups of white wine (one to drink and one for the pot,) a few sage leaves...
Several different hunks of cheese.
Loaves of crusty bread.
Cold, cold, cold day outside.
A good book and a hand made blanket to wrap around your knees.
A roaring fire, music (not opera) and the twinkling of the Christmas tree's lights.
Lovely weekend.
Note: As we do not have a TV (by choice) I have never watched Seinfield. Today while looking up "soup" on YOU TUBE I found this clip...Man, did I miss out of some good soup or what?
MN sent me this clip: A French Seinfield: La Soupe aux Choux.

Perfect.

Soup, soup, soup! I love soup! Nothing better than a big bowl of wonderful soup on a cold night! And, Corey...congratulations on your article in 'Victoria'! Wonderful, just wonderful! Wishing you and your family a most wonderfully happy holiday!

I'm all for the soup. But why not opera? I think it goes pretty well with soup myself...

It's a soup day here today! Time to put the pot on!!

Perfect day to make soup here. It is very cold and rainy outside, all of the Christmas shopping and wrapping is done. The French clip was hysterical, even though I am not fluent in French it was easily understandable.

Hi Corey,
It's always nice to hear about fellow non-TV-watchers. Though Seinfeld was definitely my favorite show growing up. "No soup for you!" is still a catchphrase in my family :)

Smart move not having a TV!!! They can become a bad influence for mind-numbing entertainment (YES, I have a TV)! LOL My husband's mother never allowed a TV in the house when he and my BIL grew up, and hubby is now a VERY avid reader. =)

Hmm. Sounds like something I need to plan for tomorrow. Have a wonderful evening.

My favorite of your soup ingredients are the roaring fire, warm blanket, and a good book. I could never convince my family to give up TV, I however, rarely watch it. I have never seen Seinfeld either. Have a lovely weekend!

Lovely soup. Yesterday mine was butternut squash ginger soup with bits of pear sprinkled on top. We are off to PA to visit F's family but this morning we are having our own private groundbreaking cerimony for the new house. I'll send pics. Ellen

I never watch TV either, books, music, silence are always better :-)
No soup for me yet, my husband and youngest daughter are out to buy the Christmas tree. I am cleaning the house and decorating with old and new memories. Plan to make pizza tonight and sit in front of the fire. Then it is my time to wrap in a handsewn quilt and read an old Christmas book.
Have a great day.
