Vintage French Christmas Card
When the clock strikes midnight and until the end of the month, the polite French will say to everyone they know well and everyone in between; (Family, friends, the baker, the red-headed-post-office-lady, the neighbors, fellow antique dealers, dogs and dance partners...to name a few.)
Bonne Année! Tous mes meilleurs voeux! Et surtout bonne santé!
They have one full month to personally pass this greeting on. It strikes me sweet when I hear someone say: "Oh! I haven't seen you, and the month is nearly over, quand même...Bonne Année!"
Happy New Year! All my best wishes! And most of all good health!
Doesn't the poutful little girl look unhappy? On top of the card it says, "Don't be mad at me, I am sending to you darling, *Mininou, and Yvette, and your parents, my best wishes for happiness! Happy new year!" She cracks me up with her nearly-bigger-then-she-is-fluffy-sheep-puff, over-sized hot pink bow, and instantly-above-your-head-mistletoe!
*Yvette is just Yvette, but little pout face is called by an affectionate name: Mininou!
